Art Farm at West Dry Creek
A conversation with artist-in-residence carmen argote:
INNER FORAGING
FriDAY, OCTOBER 16, 5-7 pm
Carmen’s residency at Art Farm has already been a process of deep listening and conversation with the land, Resident Farmers, food, and the culture we are growing here. Please join us October 16th, 5-7pm for a unique walk through Carmen’s work and practice of inner foraging.
“My artwork teaches me. I call my process inner foraging: a way of listening inward and following what emerges through the body, with materials, and with the places I inhabit. Rather than imposing intentions, I enter into conversation with the work itself. My practice is rooted in curiosity, trust, and a willingness to be changed by what I learn through making. It is process-based, sometimes ephemeral, as we all are. I embrace living my practice.”
About Carmen argote
Carmen Argote is a multidisciplinary artist whose work points to the body, class, and economic structures in relation to architecture and personal history. Argote’s practice draws upon their immediate environment and the networks of labor and consumption that mark these spaces. They manifest these connections through drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, video and performance that directly reference the visual language of abstraction.
